Salty dogma: Bono gives an explicit confession of being saved by Grace, not Karma
World Magazine article
I waited patiently for the Lord
He inclined and heard my cry.
He brought me right out of the pit,
out of my miry clay.
I will sing a new song,
How long to sing this song?
He set my feet upon a rock,
and made my footsteps heard.
Many will see,
Many will see and fear.
I will sing, sing a new song.
How long to sing this song?

I have heard of U2's roots as a "worship" band in Ireland during the mid-teen years. Certainly the Christians clamored to call U2 their "own" during those delightfully raw early years. Then we watched U2 turn into a media monster, complete with irreverant videos, image, and lyrics. I certainly called all of their convictions into question. Overall, nobody knows except the author of Grace. But certainly his words in the article are encouraging, and seem to lay rest to any doubts. I hardly figure that a human NOT touched by that very Amazing Grace, could respond as Bono did. Hallelujah.
