Why I've discovered what I'm going to eat for lunch for the rest of my life

So I was hungry today and didn't have anything to eat for lunch.  My smart and sweet lady Marit suggested I go to the grocery store and get a salad.  Good idea I thought, so I did.  Little did I know it would change my culinary desires for the rest of my life.  I walked to Safeway, strolled down to the deli area, and as they say, the rest is history…

Here are four reasons why my lunch plans a pretty much set for the rest of my life:

Bounce-flubber-bounce
-Yeah, that's the movement of your and my fat above our hips as we walk down the street.  It'd benefit our health consciousness to eat salads more often.  I generally like salads so this was a good idea from the watching-your-weight standpoint.  Considering the fatty food we usually eat, especially at lunch food places, eating a salads with little to no fatis a no-brainer for those trying to shed a couple pounds or maintain their current weight.  They don't taste half bad either.

Lunch and a walk
-Going along with previous point, being weight-conscious also involves physical activity too ya know.  Now that I don't commute via the Metro anymore (which included walking blocks and blocks daily in DC), and considering I don't do much physical athletic activity anymore, a good long walk to the grocery store can do nothing but good.  The Safeway I go to is about a quarter-mile round-trip walk from my work.  Sure I'm prolly only burning a 100 calories or so, but it's better than just getting in my car to go to McDonalds.

Customizable like your Honda Civic
-I like salads, but I don't necessarily love them.  And usually I don't love them because there's something included in them that I don't like and that is annoying to pick out like onions, tomatoes, or other random vegetables and fruits I don't like.  The beauty of the Safeway salad bar is that your salad completely customizable!  What a great idea!  No longer do I have to pick out the peppers in my salad or try to wipe away the dressing I don't like.  With the salad bar I can not only choose what size container I want, I can choose what I want in my salad.  I can put as many pieces of lettuce and broccoli and as much ranch dressing as I want in it.  And they have a huge selection of salad components that will take me weeks if not months to run through the possible salad combinations!  The salad bar should be on that show Modern Marvels on the History Channel.

$3.99 are you out of your mind?!
-Ah, the meat and potatoes of lunches (pun intended).  Hey, I love a Chipotle burrito just as much as the next amigo, but $7.20 takes a toll.  Let's not even mention the $15-20 some of us spending regularly eating out at nice sit-down restaurants for lunch.  A T.G.I.Friday's or Sapphire Wednesday's is great every once in a while, but all things considered, it just ain't worth it more than sparingly.
Meanwhile, the salad bar is the deal of the century.  Only $3.99 per pound!  That might sound like an ok deal until you try to make a pound of salad; it's not very easy.  Today I thought I had like three pounds but it turned out to be like only .75 lbs.  Super!  Yeah, if you're watching the budget getting a salad everyday probably isn't as smart as bringing in a lunch sometimes, but it sure is a good deal for something that tastes good, is very healthy, and will satisfy your hunger.

So there you have it, four extremely convincing reasons why getting a salad at the salad bar at your local grocery store is the greatest and healthiest idea you could every come across.   Thanks Marit!

I've definatley had a hard time with this and maybe more than I let on or at least let myself think about. I would like to loose a few jiggles in the belly and trim down. Trying to drink more water and less soda and just smaller portions of the same food. Occasionaly have salads instead of crud. We'll see what happens.
