    EbbWorld - Frequently Asked Questions

    Question#1
Where did the nickname "ebb" come from and why is your website called "EbbWorld"?

    Answer#1
If you're wondering where I got the name "ebb" from it's easy.  Sometime during my early college years, my brother John and friend Andrew Scrivner, noticed a tendency in my personality.  They noticed that most of the time I was a chill kind of guy; not usually prone to freaking out or getting over-zealous about anything; and sleepy most of the time.  I'm not sure which of the two coined the phrase "ebb", but that became my nickname because of my chill-type demeanor.  Now if you're familiar with the processes of tides, you know the phrase "ebb and flow" is used to describe tides' transitional phases.  "Ebb" being the more stagnate, less viscous stage, and "flow" being the dynamic, animated stage.  Though the majority of my personality is dictated by my "ebb" stage, I do exhibit "flow" qualities every once in a while.  And that is where you get my nickname "ebb", and to a lesser extent "ebb and flow".

Where I got 'EbbWorld' from is easy also. It simply refers to my mind, or the mental "world" of "Ebb". Get it?

    Question#2
Where did you get the idea to start EbbWorld?

    Answer#2
I can't say exactly when I got the notion for a personal website full of personal and social commentary, but I think it was during my latter college years that I began to realize my penchant and passion for writing and to try to exhibit that writing to the world.  What better way to express oneself in a way accessible to all the world than the World Wide Web?!  Obviously EbbWorld has undergone some major changes over the years but I'd like to think EbbWorld version 2.0 is the best and boldest revision yet to date.  I hope you like it.

    Question#3
Who or what has influenced you to write like you do and about the things you do?

    Answer#3
Well I guess it's a combination of things and people that have influenced me.  I'd have to give God the credit for my writing style.  To maybe a lesser extent, my adult experiences have perhaps molded my "no nonsense", unorthodox, gut-level writing style, but again, those experiences were fashioned by God.

My family has played large role in my intellectual and emotional development.  I find myself, at the age of 24, to be closer to all my elder siblings(5) than any of my peers theirs.

My faith has played a large role also. I t has molded me in the person I am today.  And though I basically adhere to most of what I was brought up on, my search for truth during my adolescent and young adult years has refined and enlightened my outlook on life, love, why, and Truth; as well as humbled me.

I'd also have to credit a few of my friends for influencing me in certains ways.  Also, a handful of authors have influenced me.  And I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge that the world around me, despite its nefariousness, has influenced me in many ways, for better or for worse.

    Question#4
I write, draw, sing, etc. a lot myself Keith, but I'm not very web savvy though.  Is there any way I can submit some of my stuff to you to be displayed on EbbWorld?  I think I too have something of value to say or show the world.

    Answer#4
Of course!  I created the Guest Contributions page for the exact purpose!   I totally want to hear from your creative capacities.  Sometimes I can't hear myself think because I'm thinking and writing too much myself (self-obsession isn't a good thing).   I would love to hear from you guys about your journey through life, love, and why. Inevitably I will not go through the same experiences and situations you have so there is no doubt some value in what you have to say not only to the world, but to me also.  Please let me know if you have some work you'd want to submit, no matter how small or obscure it may be.  I will have to review it real quick of course, but chances are, if it's clean and insightful, I'll post it.  I try my best to combat my ego and pride and humbly put myself into other people's shoes.

    Question#5
Will you go out on a date with me?

    Answer#5
    Of course! :)

    Question#6
Ok, I know I'm super weird, but I really liked your old website.  Is that still available to look at?

    Answer#6
Ok, you are super weird if you like that jumbled amateur foray, but sure, it's still available. Just go here for the old EbbWorld

    Question#7
Where did you get the cool EbbWorld logo from?

    Answer#7
I got the idea from looking at a broken metal computer fan grate.  Oh the mundanity.
