December 2005 - World religions and Christian cults (updated 2/10/06) Recently in my men's Bible study, I led a topical discussion on Christian cults and world religions. These faiths were investigated objectively and also comparatively to orthodox Christianity and its core doctrines. This dialogue was the combination of interest in the group and my own personal passion to learn and teach others. My purpose was: The following material is a combination of unbiased and biased resources I've come across or prepared myself in my pursuit of knowledge and understanding of other faiths. I hold no shame on behalf of having biased viewpoints, at least the ones grounded in factual information. I do however apologize for any insensitive or hurtful remarks that may have slipped into any material I've presented or even written myself (Please read "Author's note" below). My goal here is similar to the aforementioned one I had with my Bible study. I have no ulterior motives, am not nefariously trying to convert anyone, and definitely do not desire division, but fellowship and dialogue through reconciliation and an honest yearning for the Truth, not matter what lies or half-truths may be uncovered. I've broken up the material into sections. First are "general" areas concerning our topic at hand, and then the second part are more specific information on certain faiths discussed and of interest. Each "faith" page will have more information, links, and material specific to it. Faith-specific: more coming soon... |
