    December 21, 2005 - My 1974 Toyota Land Cruiser

I purchased a 1974 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 last weekend.  This will be my 4th car I've owned, and the third which is classified as an antique (25 years or older) in the state of Virginia.  My reasoning behind this purchase was that 1) I need a car for the winter that won't be useless if .0002" of snow falls on the ground 2) why do I need another racer when I already have an e30 M3?  And 3) it's the spice of life to try something different.  Plus now I have the best of both worlds.  I will be selling Rikku, my 1972 BMW 2002tii, but I'll worry about that in the new year.

Some specs of the Land Cruiser are:
    " 140,000 miiles (estimated, odometer doesn't work)
    " Toyota "F" engine (bout 125hp)
    " 4-wheel drive capable
" Removable hard top and soft top
    " Fold-down windshield :)
    " Bench "suicide" rear seats
" Six speaker cd-player sound system

    The Bad:
" Does have some rust issues.  Nothing terribly hard to fix, but will need to be attended to
" Engine leaks and burns oil.  Will be getting fixed soon.
" Front axle seals leak differential gear fluid.  Need to be fixed before I can engage 4-wheel drive
" Hard top needs to be restored and installed correctly
" Misc. tidbits that accompany every old car

And without further Freddie Adu, here are the pictures (without the cool hardtop on):
