February 1, 2007 - Weatherpersons do blow (pun intended) One of my first Random Thoughts on EbbWorld a few years back was how I thought weatherpersons were full of hot air (pun intended) pretty much all the time. I didn't claim they weren't intelligent and academically successful individuals with great understanding of science and meteorology. I just said when it came to predicting the weather; they had as good a chance, and track record, as Phil from Punxsutawney. I stand by my assertion today. Case and point: as of yesterday evening, even very early this morning (gee why did I go to bed so late?) weather.com was calling for light snow showers, but enough for accumulation, and had the following forecast predictions for today, Thursday.
![]() The written forecast indicated that Thursday's accumulation would amount to about an inch and that Thursday night's the same, for a grand total of about 2 inches from this small storm. Well it is late afternoon Thursday and here is the current Doppler radar report below. There is not a drop of precipitation within 300 miles of Vienna. ![]() This just further proves that despite advanced degrees in meterology and millions of dollars worth of computer and software equipment, weatherpersons are still the most inaccurate, worthless working "contributors" in modern society. Get me all amped (pun intended if you know XBox) up on snow and fail me again. Terds. |
