March 24, 2005 - The Lord of the PSP's: The Fellowship of the Nerds Well the day has come. And after waking up at 6:45am and standing in line with my fellow nerds (there were a couple girls out of the 80+ people there before the store opened at 8am) outside the Tysons Corner Best Buy in the freezing cold weather, I am the proud owner of a Sony Playstation Portable, or PSP. I feel terribly physically sick today, but it still has been great thanks to my new sleek and sexy PSP. I've only brushed over the many features the PSP has to offer, but all I can say is "WOW!". This thing is absolutely amazing. Not only is it tiny with a huge screen, the software capabilities are simply staggering. Aside from the absence of large capacity hard drive (Memory Stick Duo's are required), the PSP makes Apple's IPOD look like a VCR compared to a DVD player. I've yet to dig really deep into the features but I have added some pictures and .mp3's to my PSP and it plays and displays them with the utmost clarity. I did watch a little of my Spiderman 2 UMD (Universal Media Disc), and the quality on that is truly amazing for a handheld. You won't believe your eyes when you see this tiny little guy pump out quality like this. Did I mention how freaking cool this thing looks and feels?!?! It's like you get a bonus 65 cool points just by holding it! Anyways, I just wanted to let you all know about my acqusition of thee greatest portable electronic device ever manifested. Sony has indeed ushered in a new era; the handheld gaming revolution has begun! Just don't be jealous that I have one and you don't, cause you could've waited in the cold with me. I enjoyed talking to this guy Chris who I met there. It's always fulfilling to elighten one concerning the wonderful world of video gaming :) Check out some of these articles: MSNBC- Sony gets it right with the new PSP CNN- Playstation Portable goes on sale today Washington Post- For gamers, date has arrived  This is like all the "stuff" you get with the PSP Value Pack (case, earphones, power adapters, sample discs, Spiderman 2 UMD, manuals, etc.)  My first PSP game, Twisted Metal: Head-On. Gotta love vehicular car combat! The UMD's are about the size of Mini-Discs and encased in that little encasing.  Spiderman 2 action.  Aww, look how cute Marit and I look on the PSP. Darn right we do :) (picture quality here doesn't do the PSP justice)  Proof that I'm only the 21st nerdiest guy in the Tysons Corner area (not thee nerdiest according to some). The person behind me in line, #22, was the first girl in line.  I think I'm love. Who said you can't love inanimate objects??? |
