July 16, 2009- Some Observations About College During My Second Time Around -Regardless of who is President, college students are overwhelmingly socially liberal and democrat. -Most girls still spend way too much time on their appearance just to go to class. It's just class yo. -Attractive girls seem to exclusively populate the lines at the fruit smoothies place. -Attractive college girls are just as attractive. -There are just as many guys taking advantage of insecure girls that never had a good, or any, relationship with their fathers. -Students try to cheat just as much…it's just gotten a little more complicated with all the electronic transactions that log and identify. Basically it's easier for administrators to catch people. That said students are more skilled at covering their tracks. I guess it will always be a game of cat and mouse. -Wearing ugly fraternity and sorority attire seems to still be socially acceptable. -There seems to be more promotion/acceptance of alternative lifestyles both by the student body and school. -Textbooks are more expensive and less utilized by professors. -Studying business is much easier than studying engineering. That said, business students are more socially adept and fun to be around than engineering students on average. -College students despite their apparent, yet ultimately phantom, "maturity", still don't have much ability to think beyond college and the consequences that their current non-academic decisions will manifest down the road, good or bad. -A personal opinion, but I can almost categorically say no college aged individual is remotely close to being married to another human being. Save a very few exceptions (less than 1%), they have little to no idea how the real world works nor do they even know themselves yet. |
