    September 14, 2005 - Deer + 55mph = unhappy M3 :(

-Unfortunately, the laws of physics were not in my favor last Friday night, as I lambasted a deer going about 55mph.  But thank the Lord though because neither I, nor anyone else was hurt (except the deer that probably ended up across the road), and the damage to my car was a lot less than I think it could've been.

It was definitely a harrowing experience as the deer literally was in view for like 0.002 seconds as it bounced off my left front end of my car.  It almost didn't seem like it happened, till I pulled over about a half mile up the road and saw the damage.  Thankfully there were no fluids leaking and the car seemed to still drive normal.

Despite the fact that yes I love my car, and many of you know me as an avid car and BMW enthusiast, God gave me a very merciful sense of peace throughout the whole ordeal.  I thank him for that, and that he gave me the proper perspective concerning this; that it is just a car and that I can praise God in the good times and the bad.  This truth, counter to human reasoning, is what makes the Christian faith so otherworldly in the first place.  I love it, and I praise the one that keeps it in the palm of his hands.  Of course I was upset and sad that it happened, but I realized it was sovereignly initiated by God, and because of his promises (Romans 8:28), I could not only "deal" with it, I could praise Him throughout it.  It's the point that I think we humans desire; to get to that point in which circumstance does not dictate our joy or soulish status.  And I'm not talking about being in "shock" or denial, I'm talking about having a very cognitive "peace that surpasses all understanding…"

If you're more interested in the technical aspects of this ordeal, and some gearhead commentary
follow my thread over at s14.net.

Try not to cringe too much from the pictures.  I'll post new ones once it's all repaired and looking as good as ever!
