    Explanations

    For death and for pain
    we had origins not
    then came along
    such a charlatan plot

A man of sorrows and contempt
    he touted his play
    to rid Man of
    his most morbid of day

    Though beauty emerged
    and hope was wrought
    a new day was dawning
    as many had thought

    But what ending was that
    so asinine and dark
    that Essence itself
should nail so grisly a mark

    The knell had tolled
    the bloodstained curtain fell
    the tableau was over
    a wretched farewell

    Yet Light still was
    our naïveté made known
    His purpose revealed
    cutting to bone

    What truth is this
    so odd and so plain
    that Man is guilty
    before our breath can strain
    Our efforts so void
    our cries so vain
    yet that Blood gives life
    for death and for pain
