I Saw Her on the Metro

I saw her on the Metro today,
oh if I might, oh if I may.
Her beauty resonated like it had years ago,
blue eyes shining blonde locks in constant flow.

She walked into another car, adjacent to mine
once again I was too shy, was I ok, was I fine?
Maybe her feelings were gone despite mine still
maybe I’m a hopeless romantic, waiting for a causeless thrill.

I saw her there, oh it’s been years
the times we had, but now you’re oh so near.
What’s holding me back, what is my barrier,
there is nothing more I want than to kiss and carry her.

I saw her on a train this morn,
her beauty ever-present, intact from the day she was born.
Yet complete she wasn’t, she isn’t, that holds me away
yes that’s it, it’s not me, but what could I say,
to change her thoughts, to change her mind,
oh me I can’t, how can I have her find?

Years have passed since our first encounter,
she comes back though, random I meet her.
Why oh why does she come back oh God?
    Is this torture?
Or do you have a plan,
    a message to love her?

And so I sit here in my car adjacent to hers,
and think of the beauty near me,
of the times we had, the dance we shared,
and I wonder, I just wonder, what might have been...
